John Clemence OLIVER

Second Generation

2. George Henry OLIVER (John Clemence ) was born 1, 2 on 9 Oct 1828 in Virginia. He died 3 on 28 Aug 1900 in Missouri. He was buried in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

“The oldest child of John C. and Jane Oliver [George Henry Oliver] was born in Prince Edward County [Virginia] in 1828.” (Correspondence with Sue Jones)

The following is the obituary of George Henry Oliver:
George Oliver Obit - An Old Settler Dead (Chillicothe Constitution, 28 Aug.1900)
George Oliver, one of the oldest settlers in Livingston county, died at his home ten miles south of Chillicothe, in Blue Mound township, at 5:15 Wednesday morning His death was caused by stomach trouble. He had been affected with indigestion since last winter, and had done no work for some time, but he was taken bad sick only yesterday.
George Oliver was in his 72nd year. He had lived here for 51 years, and was, thus one of the oldest settlers. Once during this time he moved to Nebraska City, Neb.and remained 2.5 years, but the rest of that long period was spent by him at his home in Blue Mound. He leaves three children, all grown. They are Leslie Oliver, and Amy Gibbons of this county and Alice Doughtery of Carroll County.
The funeral will occur at 2 p.m. Thurs. at the Christison Cemetery.

George married 1 Nancy Jane COE daughter of Milburn COE and Amy on 21 Sep 1852 in Mooresville, Livingston County, MO. Nancy was born 2, 3 on 6 Jun 1830 in Covington, Fountain County, IN. She died 4, 5 on 15 Nov 1902 in Carroll County, MO. She was buried 6, 7 on 16 Nov 1902 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

The following is the obituary of Nancy Jane (Coe) Oliver and her daughter Alice (Oliver) Dougherty:
“Mother and Daughter Die - Expire from Same Cause on Same Day - Mrs. N. J. Oliver and Mrs. William Dougherty Fatally Poisoned From Drinking Milk.”
Mrs. N. J. Oliver of Chillicothe and Mrs. Alice Dougherty, wife of William C. Daugherty, both died at the home of the latter near Coloma, in Carroll County, Saturday, after an illness of two weeks. The double death was due to some kind of burr which the attending physicians were unable to satisfactorily diagnose. Mrs. Oliver had been visiting her daughter, she having divided her time between Mrs. Dougherty and her other daughter, Mrs. Thornt Gibbons of this county. On Sunday November 2, Mrs. Dougherty and her mother, together with other members of the family ate some bread, scalded with milk. The next morning the two women were taken with cholera morbus which was followed by fever. They grew constantly worse, the disease being a persistent and wasting one, and on Saturday, November 15, the sufferings of both mother and daughter were ended in death.
Several physicians were called in during their illness and the opinion of the professional men was that the women had been poisoned by the milk which constituted a large portion of the last meal they ever ate. The physicians were seemingly powerless to check the ravages of the disease.
Leslie Oliver, son of Mrs. N. J. Oliver and Mrs. Thornt Gibbons were summoned a week ago to attend the bedside of their mother and sister. Frank Oliver, brother-in-law to Mrs. N. J. Oliver, was also present to give all assistance in his power.
The double funeral occurred Sunday, burial being made in the Christison cemetery, with services conducted by Rev. W. C. Baird.
Mrs. Oliver was an old and highly respected resident of this county. She was the daughter of Milburn and Amy Coe, and was born in Covington, Ind., June 6, 1830, her age at her death being 72. She came to this city in 1848. September 24, 1852, at Mooresville, she was married to G. H. Oliver who died several years ago. Leslie Oliver and Mrs. Thornt Gibbons are the only surviving members of her family, she having been the mother of seven children.
Mrs. Dougherty was born at Dawn Nov. 2, 1853, being 49 years old at the time of her death. She was married Feb. 17, 1801 [1901] to William C. Dougherty who survives her. She was a consistent member of the Presbyterian church.
(Chillicothe Constitution Tribune, Chillicothe, Livingston County, Missouri, 18 Nov 1902)

They had the following children:

9 F i Alice D. OLIVER was born 1 on 2 Nov 1853 in Dawn, Livingston County, MO. She died 2 on 15 Nov 1902 in Carroll County, MO. She was buried 3, 4 on 16 Nov 1902 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.
Alice married 1 William C. DOUGHERTY on 17 Feb 1901.
10 M ii Millard William OLIVER was born 1 in 1856 in Missouri.
11 M iii Leslie B. OLIVER was born 1 on 21 Sep 1858 in Utica, Livingston County, MO. He died 2 on 17 Jun 1919 in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO. He was buried 3 on 18 Jun 1919 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

Apparently Leslie never married because per his death certificate he died single at the age of 60 years 8 months and 26 days.

The following is the obituary of Leslie Oliver:
“Death of Less Oliver”
Less Oliver, 56 years old, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Thornt Gibbons at the old homestead in Blue Mound township about 3:30 o’clock this (Tuesday) morning of stomach trouble. The deceased who was a son of George Oliver, was born and reared in Livingston county and spent the greater part of his life here. The funeral will be from the home Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock and burial will be made in the Christison cemetery. (Chillicothe Constitution Tribune, Chillicothe, Livingston County, Missouri, 17 Jun 1919)
12 F iv Amy Jane OLIVER was born 1 on 15 Jul 1860 in Missouri. She died 2 on 29 Aug 1940 in Brookfield, Linn County, MO. She was buried 3 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

The followed is the obituary of Amy Gibbons:
“Mrs. Amy Gibbons Died Yesterday - Passed Away at Her Home in Avalon; Funeral Services Saturday”
The death of Mrs. Amy Jane Gibbons, 80 years old, occurred at her home in Avalon Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock. The body is at the Norman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be from the Methodist Church in Avalon, Saturday. Burial will be in the Christison cemetery. She is survived by one son, Floyd Gibbons of Kansas City. Her husband, Thornton Gibbons, died February 25, 1921. (Chillicothe Constitution Tribune, Chillicothe, Livingston County, Missouri, 30 Aug 1940)

Note: The above obituary states that Amy died at her home in Avalon, however her Missouri Death Certificate states that she died in a hospital in Brookfield, Linn County, Missouri.
Amy married Thornton GIBBONS son of Joshua GIBBONS. Thornton was born 1 on 1 Oct 1865 in Livingston County, MO. He died 2 on 25 Feb 1921 in Chillicothe, Livingston County, MO. He was buried 3 on 27 Feb 1921 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

The following is the obituary of Thornton Gibbons:
“Death of Thornton Gibbons.”
Thornton Gibbons, for 55 years a resident of Livingston county, died at the New hospital Friday morning at 5:20 o’clock of a complication of ailments. The body was removed to the Norman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the Christison cemetery south of the city Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock conducted by Rev. Warren P. Clark, of the First Baptist church. The widow and one son, Floyd, a brother, John, residing at Scott Bluffs, Neb. And a sister, Mrs. Emma Lyle residing in Illinois, survive. Mr. Gibbons was born north of town October 1, 1865 and resided in this county his entire life. Recently he had been living on a farm south of the city. Mr. Gibbons was a good man of good character and principles and had a host of friends who will join The Constitution in extending sympathy to the bereaved family. (Chillicothe Constitution Tribune, Chillicothe, Livingston County, Missouri, 25 Feb 1921)
13 M v Benjamin H OLIVER was born 1, 2 in 1866 in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska.

3. John Benjamin OLIVER (John Clemence ) was born 1, 2 on 19 Sep 1831 in Brunswick County, Virginia. He died 3 on 14 Mar 1911 in Fairview Township, Livingston County, MO. He was buried 4 on 16 Mar 1911 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

John Benjamin Oliver’s birth date is given as 19 Sep 1831 on his death certificate, but his headstone at the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO gives it as 12 Sept 1832.

During the Civil War, John Benjamin Oliver served as a Private in Company K of the 4th Provisional Regiment, Missouri State Militia. He entered service on October 10, 1864 and was honorably discharged on March 11, 1865. John Benjamin must have served with his future brother-in-law William Henry Winfrey who married John Benjamin' s sister Margaret Parthenia Catherine Oliver because William Henry served in the same unit during the same time period. John Benjamin's second wife, Mary Florinda Winfrey, was also the sister of William Henry Winfrey. It is interesting to note that John Benjamin's first wife, Kiziah Haynes, was the sister of Enoch Porter Haynes, Jr., who married John Benjamin's first cousin Mary Jane Russell.

The following is the obituary of John Benjamin Oliver:
“John Benjamin Oliver”
John Benjamin Oliver died at his home in Avalon Tuesday night at 7:30 of old age and cancer of the stomach, after an illness covering a period of a number of months. His condition for the past several weeks was alarming and his family and relatives had given up all hopes of his recovery. The decedent was born in Brunswick county, Va., in 1831. He moved to Livingston county in 1850 settling on a farm in Fairview township. He later moved to Avalon, where he resided. He was a good man and had made many friends since coming to this county. Besides his widow, he is survived by three sons, John P. Oliver, California, Archie Oliver, Glenco, Okla., A. H. Oliver, Carrollton, and a step-daughter, Miss Lucy Williams, Glenco, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Winfrey, Avalon, and Mrs. Mary Shields, Iola, Kas.; one brother, J. F. Oliver, Chillicothe. Funeral services at nine o’clock Thursday morning from the home in Avalon; interment in the Christison cemetery. (Chillicothe Constitution Tribune, Chillicothe, Livingston County, Missouri, 15 Mar 1911)

Probate Records of Livingston County, Missouri Volume IX, Box #: 2025
John B. Oliver , died March 14, 1911 W. H. Winfrey, Admr. Bond: April 10, 1911 Heir: Mary F. Oliver, widow

John married 1 (1) Kiziah Jane HAYNES daughter of Enoch Porter HAYNES Sr and Mary Eleanor PATTON on 2 Oct 1856. Kiziah was born 2 on 23 Mar 1837 in Bedford County, TN. She died 3 on 8 Jun 1864 in Blue Mound, Livingston County, MO. She was buried 4 in the Blue Mound Cemetery, Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

They had the following children:

  14 M i Leonard OLIVER was born 1 in 1857 in Missouri.

Leonard can only be positively identified in the 1860 and 1870 Blue Mound Township, Livingston County census when he was age 3 and 12 living with his parents and/or stepmother. Leonard is not with his father and stepmother in the 1880 census. The only Leonard Oliver who was born in Missouri and of the right age that can be found in the 1880 census is a Leonard Oliver, age 22, born Missouri, farm laborer, living in the household of Greg Egner (age 54) in Platteville, Weld County, Colorado. Unfortunately this Leonard does not identify where his parents were born so we cannot confirm that this is our Leonard. No further record of Leonard has been found.
15 M ii Albert H. OLIVER was born 1 on 27 Oct 1858 in Livingston County, MO. He died 2 on 3 Oct 1928 in Carrollton, Carroll County, MO. He was buried 3 on 5 Oct 1928 in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Carroll County, MO.

Albert is found in the 1860 and 1870 Blue Mound Township, Livingston County census when he was 2 and 11 living with his parents and/or stepmother. In the 1880 census Albert, age 21, is found in the household of Thomas Darby in Carroll County working as a laborer. Along with him, also working as a laborer is William Christison, age 19 (perhaps his first cousin John W. Christison, b: 1860). Albert is not found again in any census record until 1920 when he is found in Carrollton, Carroll County working as a carpenter and is listed as a head of household with his wife Anna L. (age 56) and their daughter Katherine (age 18). Based on the fact that Albert and Anna were married in 1900 and Katherine was born ca 1901/1902 and no other children are listed in the 1920 census, it would appear that Katherine was their only child.
Albert married 1 Anna Lee WALKER daughter of David H. WALKER and Elizabeth THOMAS on 18 Mar 1900 in Carroll County, MO. Anna was born 2 on 27 Mar 1863 in Carroll County, MO. She died 3 on 7 Feb 1939 in Carrollton, Carroll County, MO. She was buried on 9 Feb 1939 in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Carroll County, MO.
16 M iii Charles OLIVER was born 1 about 1859 in Missouri. He died 2 before 1870 in Missouri.

Charles is only found in the 1860 Blue Mound Township, Livingston County census living with his parents. He is not listed in any censuses after 1860 and so it is assumed that he died young. No record has been found of his burial.
17 M iv John Price OLIVER was born 1 on 29 Oct 1860 in Livingston County, Missouri. He died on 6 May 1950 in Liberty, Clay County, MO. He was buried 2 on 8 May 1950 in the IOOF Cemetery, Liberty, Clay County, MO.

John Price is found in the 1870 Blue Mound Township, Livingston County census age 8 and in the 1880 Carroll County census age 19 living with his father and stepmother. Oddly enough there is another Price Oliver, age 20, in the 1880 census in Carroll working as a laborer on the farm of Tom Satterfield, these two Price Oliver’s appear to be the same person. John Price (age 58) is next found in the 1920 census in Oakland Township, Alameda County, California with his wife Jessie L. (age 46). John Price is working in a shipyard and Jessie is working in a grocery store. No children are listed. We next find John Price (age 66), without his wife, in the 1930 Liberty, Clay County, Missouri census living in the Odd Fellows Home in Liberty, Clay County, Missouri. Based on his death certificate John Price had been living in Liberty, Clay County, Missouri for 21 years, which means he would have left California in about 1929. When and where his wife died or if they ever had any children is unknown.
John married 1 Jessie FELT daughter of James H. FELT and Mary on 16 Nov 1897 in Chillicothe Township, Livingston County, MO. Jessie was born 2 about 1873/1874 in Missouri.

John married 1 (2) Mary Florinda WINFREY daughter of Reuben S. WINFREY and Editha MCCAIN on 28 Oct 1869 in Livingston County, MO. Mary was born on 12 Aug 1842 in Adair County, KY. She died 2 on 20 Jan 1929 in Pawnee County, OK.

Mary Florinda Winfrey's first husband was Joseph Hunter McCandless. He disappeared during the Civil War (about 1863) on a wagon train between Wavery and Springfield, Missouri. Mary and Joseph had one daughter Lucy McCandless, born 10 Oct 1862. (Correspondence with Sue Jones)

Mary’s second husband John Benjamin Oliver died in 1911 and is buried in the Christison Cemetery in the Blue Mound Township in Livingston County, Missouri. Based on a paper written by Mary Winfrey Darby in 1971 entitled “History of the Winfrey Family”, Mary died in Pawnee County, Oklahoma on 20 Jan 1929. When Mary moved to Oklahoma is not clear, but it must have been after 1920 because she is not listed in the household of her son William Archie Oliver in the Pawnee County, Oklahoma census of 1920.

They had the following children:

18 M v James Frank OLIVER was born 1 on 28 Sep 1870 in Livingston County, MO.
James married 1 Bertha SAMPSON daughter of Charles SAMPSON and Susan on 31 May 1899 in Livingston County, MO. Bertha was born 2 in Aug 1879 in Missouri.

Family lore says that James Frank Oliver and his brother William Archie Oliver were married to their wives in a double wedding ceremony on 6 Oct 1897, however Livingston County Marriage Records show that James Frank Oliver and his wife Bertha Sampson were married on 31 May 1899 and not 6 Oct 1897 when his brother William was married to his wife Alma Clayton. James must have moved to Oklahoma sometime prior to the wedding and then returned to Missouri because he is identified on the marriage license as being from Orinsville, Oklahoma (Pain Territory). The only other record we find on James and his wife Bertha is when they are listed in the household of her parents in the 1900 census in the Chillicothe Township, Livingston County, Missouri. Sometime after 23 Jun 1900 James disappeared and was never heard from again. It is believed that he was killed.
19 M vi William Archie OLIVER was born 1 on 4 Dec 1873 in Livingston County, MO. He died 2 on 21 Sep 1930 in Pawnee, Pawnee County, OK. He was buried 3 in the Highland Cemetery, Pawnee, Pawnee County, OK.
William married 1 Alma CLAYTON daughter of John Wesley CLAYTON and Matilda Mae MCFARLAND on 6 Oct 1897 in Chillicothe Township, Livingston County, MO. Alma was born 2 about 1876/1877 in Illinois.

Family lore says that William Archie Oliver and his brother James Frank Oliver were married to their wives in a double wedding ceremony on 6 Oct 1897, however Livingston County Marriage Records show that William’s brother James and his wife Bertha were married on 31 May 1899 and not 6 Oct 1897. However, William and his wife Alma were married on 6 Oct 1897 and must have moved almost immediately to Glencoe, Payne County, Oklahoma because their first child was born there on 10 Aug 1898. However, they must have returned to Livingston County, Missouri for the funeral of his father because a W. A. Oliver signed the death certificate of John Benjamin Oliver in Livingston County on 15 Mar 1911. William and his wife are next found in the 1920 census in Pawnee County, Oklahoma with three of their children: Edward, Erma and Pauline.

4. Sarah Ann Rebecca OLIVER (John Clemence ) was born 1, 2 on 22 Jul 1834 in Virginia. She died 3 on 21 May 1870 in Livingston County, MO. She was buried 4 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

Sarah married Leonard CHRISTISON son of William CHRISTISON and Mary (Polly) HELLOURS. Leonard was born 1, 2 on 9 Aug 1829 in Kentucky. He died 3 on 18 Jul 1875 in Livingston County, MO. He was buried in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

They had the following children:

20 F i Mary Jane Olive CHRISTISON was born 1, 2 on 12 Sep 1858 in Livingston County, MO. She died 3 in Oct 1894 in Livingston County, MO. She was buried 4 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.
Mary married 1 William John WIER son of Robert WIER and Sarah JACOBS on 20 Jan 1876 in Livingston County, MO. William was born 2 on 22 Oct 1853 in Livingston County, MO. He died 3, 4 on 26 Feb 1918 in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO. He was buried 5 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

William John Wier was the brother of Theresa Wier who married James Frank Oliver, uncle of William’s wife Mary Jane Olive Christison.
21 M ii John W. CHRISTISON was born 1, 2, 3, 4 on 12 Nov 1860 in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO. He died 5, 6 on 26 Feb 1931 in Chillicothe, Livingston County, MO. He was buried 7 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

The following is the obituary of John W. Christison:
“Paralysis Fatal to John W. Christison - Passed Away at His Home on Eastin Street Early Today; Funeral Services Saturday Afternoon”
J.W. Christison, a native of Livingston county, died at the family home, 821 Eastin street, this morning at 7:25 o’clock. Death was due to paralysis. Funeral services will be held from the First Christian church Saturday afternoon at two o’clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. George E. Purdy. Burial will be in the Christison cemetery in Blue Mound Township. While Mr. Christison had been in failing health for several months, his condition had not become alarming until approximately three weeks ago when he suffered a stroke. John William Christison was born in Blue Mound township November 12, 1860 and lived practically his entire life in the county. He was married to Miss Maggie R. Davis in 1887. To this union two children were born, Milford D., whose death occurred about 16 years ago, and Della C., now Mrs. Ross Diehl, who with Mrs. Christison survive. He is also survived by a brother, Steve Christison and a sister, Mrs. Lee Ray, both of Blue Mound township. Twenty-eight years ago Mr. Christison began work for the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad and was in the employee of the company when his health failed. He was a member of the First Christian church, being on the official church board for years. Mr. Christison was a man who had a wide circle of friends. He was kind and courteous and always anxious to be of assistance to others. He was a lover of his home, being a kind and devoted husband and a loving father. (Chillicothe Constitution Tribune, Chillicothe, Livingston County, Missouri, 26 Feb 1931)
John married 1 Margaret Rella DAVIS "Maggie" daughter of William B DAVIS and Hannah MCDANELD on 2 Feb 1887 in Avalon, Fairview Township, Livingston County, MO. Margaret was born 2, 3, 4 on 8 Sep 1866 in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO. She died 5, 6 on 7 Nov 1956 in Chillicothe, Livingston County, MO. She was buried 7 on 9 Nov 1956 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

The following is the obituary of Maggie Christison:
“Mrs. Maggie Christison Dies at Age of 90 - She Was a Lifetime Resident of County.”

She attended the rural Vaughn school, was a member of the Christian church. She was married Feb. 2, 1887, to John William Christison. He died in 1931. Mrs. Christison made her home with her daughter the last 22 years. Her health had been poor for 20 years and her condition was serious the last week. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a brother, Edgar W. Davis, Casper, Wyo.; a half-brother, Lloyd Davis, Los Angeles; a granddaughter and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon from the chapel of the Norman Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Arnett Winn, pastor of the First Christian church. Burial will be in the family lot at the Christison cemetery under direction of Norman’s. The family requests no flowers. The casket will be closed at the start of the service. (Chillicothe Constitution Tribune, Chillicothe, Livingston County, Missouri, 8 Nov 1956)
22 M iii Steven Alex CHRISTISON was born 1 on 28 Mar 1862 in Livingston County, MO. He died 2 on 15 Dec 1940 in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO. He was buried 3 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

The followed is the obituary of Steven Christison:

Eva married 1 William Lee WRAY "Lee" son of Claborn WRAY on 13 Mar 1889 in Fairview Township, Livingston County, MO. William was born 2 on 17 Sep 1861 in Grant County, IN. He died 3 on 19 May 1942 in Livingston County, MO. He was buried 4 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

24 M v George L. CHRISTISON was born on 16 May 1870 in Missouri. He died 1 on 13 Jul 1890 in Missouri. He was buried 2 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

5. Thomas Edward OLIVER (John Clemence ) was born 1, 2 on 24 Jul 1838 in Virginia. He died 3 on 24 Jul 1888 in Omaha, Douglas County, NE.

Thomas Oliver was a butcher and in about 1873 he purchased the "Star" Market located on Locust Street in Chillicothe, Livingston County, Missouri. Sometime after 1880, he and his family moved to Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska where he died in 1888. (Correspondence with Sue Jones.)

Thomas married 1 Susanna KNOX daughter of Joseph KNOX and Sarah MCLAUGHLIN on 23 Oct 1860 in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO. Susanna was born 2, 3 in Dec 1833 in Indiana. She died 4 after 1910 in Nebraska.

After the death of her husband in 1888, Susannah is found as a head of household in the 1900 census in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. Living with her is her son Francis E. Oliver age 24 born Missouri, who is assumed to be the Elmer Oliver age 4 born Missouri living with Thomas and Susannah in the 1880 census in Chillicothe, Livingston County, Missouri.

We next find Susannah in the 1910 census in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska living with her daughter Rose who married William R. English. Based on this census, Susanna had six children with four still living in 1910; no record has been found on the sixth child. The name Oscar has come up, but no information has been found on him. Susannah is not found in the 1920 census.

The maiden name of McLaughlin for Susanna's mother has not been proven.

They had the following children:

  25 M i George OLIVER was born 1 in 1861/1862 in Missouri.
26 M ii Charles OLIVER was born 1 in 1866/1867 in Missouri.
27 F iii Rose OLIVER was born 1 in 1867/1868 in Missouri.
Rose married William R. ENGLISH. William was born 1 in 1862/1863 in Wisconsin.
28 M iv Arthur OLIVER was born 1 in 1871/1872 in Missouri.
29 M v Francis Elmer OLIVER was born 1, 2 in Jun 1875 in Missouri.
  30 M vi Oscar OLIVER.

No further information has been found on Oscar Oliver.

6. Mary Elizabeth Jane OLIVER (John Clemence ) was born 1, 2, 3 on 8 Jun 1843 in Tennessee or Kentucky. She died 4, 5 on 1 Sep 1920 in Iola, Allen County, KS. She was buried 6 in the Christison Cemetery in Blue Mound Township, Livingston County, MO.

A Family Group Record on Family Search gives Mary's birth place as Centerville, Bourbon County, Kentucky, however the 1850 census gives it as Tennessee. Subsequent censuses give it as Kentucky. Correspondence with Sue Jones indicates that the “…Elizabeth who married Joe Shields was born in Centerville, Christian Co. KY June 1843.” Based on Map Quest, there is no Centerville, Christian County, Kentucky. It should be noted that Bourbon County, Kentucky is next to Montgomery County, Kentucky where Elizabeth's sister, Margaret Parthenia Catherine Oliver, was born.

The following is the obituary of Mary Shields:
“Death of Mrs. Mary Shields.”
